A Journey to an unamed destination - The Early years

Where does my journey begin ?
Does it begin when I began alter serving or maybe when I began to live by myself?

I don't think it did when I was first born all those years ago, I grew up with two sister a mam and a dad who always seemed to work. I was the first the big brother funny that how I'm the last to actually settle down and still waiting to do that. I remember at times my sisters being really nasty to me. One particular time one through a dart at my head cant remember why, I'm sure i have been a little different ever since lol

I don't really remember much from being a kid, though one memory drains through my mind and that is wanting to be a stuntman and I used to jump off a bmx while it was still moving. There was what I like to call the star wars effect, was there ever a kid without them stars wars figures you know when they were cheap to buy. i think I cant given them to me by a cousin and think they are still in the loft back at my mams.

At some time in my youth I discovered going to church I think that's where my non violence and non war stance took hold. This over the years has gripped like nothing else all I will say is just don't get me started on it. You see I'm very much don't really care about the politics but in some countries or should I say most countries. People are dying in wars they don't understand how can that be right ?

I'm became an alter server, some of the highlight were serving in Lourdes, doing any Easter mass, teaching young alter servers,Christmas Mass especially midnight mass and how magical it was. I was a server from when I was about ten all the way through to about 25. There were good moments and bad moments and that was pretty much my life through my teenage years. I helped out and summer fairs at one point being a sort of DJ though this did not involve jumping off any bikes lol. Through the church i discovered life death and the universe.

But this is not a natural teenage life, I don't care what anyone says. one other interest that has stayed with me since my teenage years is the paranormal. Yep all those things that go bump in the night and this was long before most haunted, the thing is having a catholic faith and an interest in the paranormal always tend to conflict with each other. Mainly cause really as far I know I should not be interested in stuff that goes bump in the night. Sometimes i wonder if there is something there who keeps wanting to show me its there cause every now weird things will happen the last being seeing an image of a boy just outside where I am now.

And show that's the early years, yeah a quick run through but soon find out why I helped my sister convert to a muslim, my issues with church services and my thoughts on the catholic faith ?

Is it love ?

I have not put a tittle for this one as I dont know what to call it, as you may or may not know im off work with stress and worry. Im todays world who does not worry eh, last night I went to go and see Mamma Mia with this worderful person, who shall remain nameless.

Yep Im a bloke and I went to see Mamma Mia and between you and me it was not such a bad film either. before hand we had drinks and i had some streak. That alone was lovely and went to see this film. During the film something seemed to change in my freindship with this person. Not sure what hell I have been going over it and over it in my head to find some sort of logical reason.

You see me and this person had been texting and sending emaill quite a bit to each other, met for the first nervous coffee it seemed to go okay then went to the pics and within the space of a few songs (mamma mia is best described as a abba musical). Something changed Im not sure if it was in me or if it had been to much alcohol and some good songs. But I came out as happy as I have ever been in my life. Best way I can describe it was waking up on christmas morning when your a child. The normal thing to put it down to would be the four letter word that wont be said. Okay hell why not,

Love

Now Im not going to get all mushy on you and belive me I could. Just ask a few of my ex's but it got me to thinking do we really know what love is or due to the mass media do we have a whats the word im looking for erm, false idea of what love is. I dont know how this chapeter of my normal life is going to end. But for now I belive that last night in those moments hours once I got home I was in love.

Yeah it sounded nuts to me but in a world like ours is there anything that is not just a bit crazy. Tonight if you have a wife, girlfreind, partner, lover tell them your inner most feelings make sure they are good first and maybe it will change your life.

this is john saying goodbye for now and sorry this one is a bit more personal and different to this other posts. But hey its life

peace part one

Peace, the oxford dictionary defines it as freedom from disturbance noise or anxiety, freedom from war or the ending of war. But my question to you is what is your definition ? Is it what the dictionary says ? or something deeper.

In today's world, peace often seems miles away something that may happen but probably would not. All we seem to do is look for someone to blame for war, be it a politician, be it a prime minster or maybe Friend or family. When we think if of war the big ones come into play Iraq, 9/11, world war 1 and 2. Not forgetting the odd riot here and there, but what about the smaller things the arguments and fights over where to go on Holiday the thing that happen in your house and your community.

Peace Sunday which is happening on the 21st of september asks for one day where there is no fighting or war. But let forget about the international ones for now and think about the battles that are going on in your home and in your heart.

Have five Min's to think about them ?
Was it really worth arguing about who was going to do the dishes last night or what you were going to watch on TV?

I truly believe that before we can achieve peace on a international scale then maybe we have to find peace in ourselves. Now lets look at that definition again and relate it to your life:

1. Are you worried or stressed, do you think to much ?
2. Is you life a constant battle or needing to win this argument or that argument ?

Have a think and if the answers are yes then look deeper into your self and find the answers, once you can answer no to them questions.

Then maybe just maybe you may be at peace

Peace One day

Hey there and sorry about the delay in updating this blog, the reason is to do with being very stressed at the moment with various things which I will go into another time. this is going to be a very quick blog but while looking around the Internet today, I have came across a website which is promoting a non for profit organisation called



Peace For one Day



Now before I give you the link just think of that for a moment, no fighting, no wars, no riots, and no violence for one day. Amazing isn't it and just to think it could happen but we all need to believe that it can,



So I'm going to ask you something big on the 21st September do something for peace be it a prayer or a moments silence to contemplate what peace for one day would be like. I also believe that there is a concert at the royal Albert hall on that day to. If you are reading this in London let all the readers of this know what it was like, Anyway enough from me for tonight and I will leave you with one image created with four words

The 21st Century

Look over at your local News website, go on do it now i can hold on a bit. Right are you back good did you see any good news on there, anything that tallked about peace and love ? I wonder cause in this century everytime you turn on the news or you open the paper, you can read another sex scandel and what that person done in detaill or maybe about the latests victims of a war that should not being fought. Be that the one against poverty or some mad dictator

I ask you as a catholic, as a human why does this happen ? when did we lose god ? As far as I know and Im no bible scholar or student of the catholic faith im just like you. When the big JC came all those years ago it was not to promote violence or anger his message was one of love and peace even up to the his darkeset night in gethseme. When one of his followers cut of one of the guards ears didnt jesus tell that discple to stop and did Jesus not heal one of the guards that would ultimatly lead him to his death on the cross

Did Jesus not die out of love to open the gates of heaven for us ?

No matter if your catholic or not you must see that violence and hate is not the answer, and in mans search for power over others this has only led us to well what you read before on your local news site. Open your eyes again and see the love that saills through your family, your parish see the love in your commuity and not the hate.

Where can you find that love ?

Everywhere you only have to look today when you leave the house say sorry to someone you need to build bridges with and though that and through you begin to change the world. Christ died to open the gates of heaven for us and to save us the human race.

Is that whats its going to take
To change the world, change your heart, change yourself and discover love

Welcome To Spirit UK

Hello and can I just say thank you for stopping by what is my first blog and I hope you enjoy what you read and if not tell me about it.

Spirit Uk - What it is ?

Spirit uk is facebook group at the moment of catholic mainly from the uk but also a few from europe who are journying together to discover thier faith and try and relate it to todays problems and issues. Not that easy. It also a group for the members Im just the guy that pulls it all together

Spirit Uk - What its not ?

Spirit uk is not a cult or not a place to put pressure onto other people who are not catholic to convert. We are not in any race or compertion to try and prove that catholic or christians have the best faith going. And its not a place to be slagging off other belifs and cutultures.
